"Marriage is the name of a lifelong bond and is the legitimate and spiritual way for the continuation of humanity. If the eternal bond of marriage cannot be maintained with its rights and etiquettes, various religious, moral, and social rules and regulations have been prescribed to sustain it. If all measures taken by the couple become ineffective, then as a last resort, the sacred law has reluctantly and with great disapproval left the option of divorce, described as ‘the most disliked of the permissible acts,’ to be used step by step so that, if necessary, this path can be chosen to resolve marital issues or to escape from such problems.
In Islamic jurisprudence, the terms ‘joining’ and ‘non-joining’ refer to whether the second divorce after the first or the third divorce after the second is connected to the first one or not—that is, whether the second or third divorce is effective after the first one has been given. This article will discuss this topic in detail
